EAOO annual meeting, Dublin 2012


The European Academy of Optometry and Optics (EAOO) has published the programme for its next conference in Dublin, set to take place from 20-22 April 2012.

The conference, taking place at the Croke Park Conference Centre, from 20-22 April 2012, will bring together key decision-makers, influencers, educators, researchers and students from across Europe. Delegates will be able to discuss and share the latest research and best-practice relating to optics, optometry and vision sciences.

Dublin 2012 will feature keynote lectures from Professor Pablo Artal (University of Murcia, Spain) on adaptive optics with a focus on new research; and Dr Kathryn Saunders (University

of Ulster, UK) on clinical practice in relation to paediatric care.

The programme includes:
workshops at the Dublin Institute of Technology, including checking and dispensing prisms; slit lamp ophthalmoscopy; and detection and management of lid margin disease
discussion forums, including integrating optometry into primary care; creating uniformity and high level scope of optometric practice in the US; and optometry in the Netherlands
case studies, including 3-D optic nerve head interpretations; contact lens fitting; and personalisation
academic and research sessions, including myopia onset prediction in school children; the relationship between optical factors on accommodative responses in children with Down’s syndrome; and factors associated with adjustment to visual lossmembers’ only Special Interest Group (SIG) sessions and
over 70 poster presentations.

Certificates of attendance will be awarded to all delegates and may be used as evidence in local continuing professional development schemes (CPD/CET).
